Melinda has worked for the last 10 years as a public health researcher in health promotion and prevention, most recently with Cancer Care Ontario. She obtained her Masters in Public Health and Health Promotion from the University of Alberta and is currently studying counselling psychology at the University of Toronto. In 2014, she trained as a facilitator of Mindfulness-Based Chronic Pain Management (MBCPMTM) courses with their founder, Dr. Jackie Gardner-Nix, who is Medical Director of the NeuroNova Centre for Mindfulness-Based Chronic Pain Management in Toronto and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto.
Melinda is currently consulting at a medical facility customizing management for pain sufferers with complex needs. She also volunteers with the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) teaching Mindfulness to clients who have intense mental health challenges. She has developed an expertise in assisting patients with serious illness to navigate the medical system. She also co-teaches the MBCPMTM course at the Pain and Wellness Centre in Vaughan, Ontario
